Our inter-house Sports Day kicked off with a competitive March Past where the various houses pulled out all the stops to win the trophy. Members of Red House went as far as placing their King and Queen in a red vintage Citreon CTV for the salute. Other houses did their best as well with various costumes and displays.
It was hilarious to watch the Toddlers run their race clutching their Teddy Bears. They did not really care to stay on their lane or follow the rules of the game. Some stood rooted to the spot and it was a huge task with the combined effort of parents and staff to get some of them to put one foot in front of the other.
They were followed by other pupils in Early Years competing in a number of fun races such as bursting the balloon, catching the train, sprint, filling the basket and so much more.
The Primary pupils were more competitive as they knew what was at stake, the competition was keen and you could cut through the tension with a knife. They competed in the sack race, hurdles, egg and spoon, relay races and others. There were shouts of victory when the winners breasted the finish line and tears of regret when certain races were lost.
The weather was pleasant, music gave energy to the atmosphere, parents were fully engaged and it was a very successful outing. Many thanks to the members of the Sports Day Committee 2018 for organising such a successful event.
The day ended with the houses in the following positions for March past:
- 1st - Blue House (Falcons)
- 2nd - Yellow House (eaglets)
- 4th - Green House (Kingfishers)
And overall positions for the track and field events were:
- 1st - Blue House
- 2nd - Red House
- 3rd - Yellow House
- 4th - Green House
Thank you to all our distinguished parents and guests for honouring our invitation. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and we look forward to seeing you again this time next year.
