Our Cambridge Primary Curriculum
At Oakland International British School, we proudly implement the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, a globally recognised programme designed for learners aged 5 to 11. This curriculum provides a flexible framework that nurtures intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

The Cambridge Primary Curriculum focuses on developing core knowledge and skills in English, Mathematics, and Science, while offering a foundation for other areas such as, Global Perspectives, Digital Literacy, Art, Music and Physical Education. The framework encourages cross-disciplinary learning, enabling students to connect ideas and apply knowledge in meaningful ways.
Pedagogy
Our approach emphasises active and inquiry-based learning, fostering a supportive environment where students explore, question, and collaborate. Teachers act as facilitators, guiding students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their abilities. Personalised learning ensures that each child progresses at their own pace while achieving high standards.
Assessment Processes
Assessment is integral to the Cambridge Primary experience. We use Cambridge Progression Tests, conducted at key points within the year, to monitor pupil development across core subjects and provide ongoing feedback.
At the end of Year 6, Cambridge Primary Checkpoint assessments give an in-depth evaluation of students’ achievements, benchmarking their progress against international standards.
This system ensures that students’ progress is carefully tracked at the end of each year group, offering parents and teachers valuable insights to support continued success.
Through the Cambridge Curriculum, we aim to inspire students to excel academically, develop a global perspective, and build the skills they need for success in their educational journey and beyond.
